Let me introduce myself.  My name is Mario Mollica and I was born in Teano, a small town 25 miles north of Naples, in southern Italy.  At the age of 16, I imigrated to the United States.  Eight years later I started my own business which I still run today.  Over the past several years I have taken many trips back to the place I was born.  Every year my childhood memories take me back   to investigate and explore the diverse traditions and beauty of my native land.

This is what I want to share with you. I grew up here. My family’s farm provided us with everything that we needed, including  dried cheeses and vegetables, cured meats and many gallons of homemade wine and olive oil. My respect for the land came in handy through the seasons when nature offered us free picking of wild mushrooms, asparagus, fennel and other wild and domestic plants. I would like to explore the open markets with you and step back in time to this unspoiled way of life.

This is the reason why I have chosen the locations where we will be staying.  We’ll visit the world class city of Florence and the hilltop town of Cortona, (the site of Under the Tuscan Sun), Siena, Pisa and San Gimignano.  We can then continue to smaller locations in Tuscany to enjoy the local festivals, cooking classes and foods of the area.
